Last round of derps: peccaries! The Raymond Alf museum, at which I’m an intern, started with the find of a new peccary genus; Dyseohyus fricki, and so it was an appropriate tribute to end the instagram takeover on 🙂
These were an interesting bunch to draw, mainly because… peccaries are still around. The features I like most about these animals are their giant heads, fluffy cheeks, pointy teeth, and especially their white collar markings. I tried to keep these features as a constant, while still looking for new ways to draw them. Peccaries are shaped like potatoes on skinny little toothpick legs, so stylizing them is always lots of fun.
Shout out to the San Francisco zoo’s Chaccoan peccaries;
I stared at those babies for hours when I was a docent. These derps are infused with their spirit ❤
