The Andrews Sisters – from left, Maxine, Patty and LaVerne – were enormously popular during Word War II. Their hits included Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B, Bei Mir Bist Du Schön, Don’t Sit Under the Aplle Tree (With Anyone Else But Me) and Rum and Coca Cola. They traveled to the various war fronts to entertain Allied troops, to hospitals, to cities across America to sell and war bonds. They were also instrumental in founding the Hollywood Canteen, the famous club offering food, entertainment and company to servicemen in LA before being sent to the South Pacific.

Besides their recording and recording successes (they sold 75 million records in their lifetime), they starred in 17 films with the likes of Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, the Ritz brothers and Abbott and Costello.
